Following its surprise digital release, Sigur Rós' first new studio album in ten years, ÁTTA, is their most intimate and emotionally direct album to date.
Few bands cut through the noise and distractions of the world and convey a pure, elemental truth and feeling like Sigur Rós. As you can hear on ÁTTA, there is a new drive and dynamic in the band that comes with the new line-up. Multi-instrumentalist Kjartan Sveinsson is back - after leaving the band in 2012 - and joins frontman Jónsi and bassist Georg Holm.
Recorded on several continents - at the band's Sundlaugin Studio in Iceland, the legendary Abbey Road Studio in the UK and several studios in the US - ‘ÁTTA’ is heavily orchestral and touches on everything that has made Sigur Rós one of the most ambitious and celebrated bands of recent times, with almost ten million albums sold. At the same time, it points to an exciting and far-reaching future. On ‘ÁTTA’, the London Contemporary Orchestra under the direction of Robert Ames and brass players from long-time Icelandic band partner Brassgat í bala are prominently represented. The album was mixed and co-produced by Paul Corley, another frequent collaborator of the band.
