On "Bud Powell's Moods", the piano speaks in two voices: the propulsive brilliance of a trio and the intimacy of solo performance. Recorded in New York in 1950 and 1951, the album brings together Powell with bassist Ray Brown and drummer Buddy Rich on "Tea for Two" and "Hallelujah," alongside eight unaccompanied selections. Across shifting moods and textures, Powell remains unmistakably himself—inventive, intense, and lyrical.
Verve Vault Series: Cut and mastered by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound from the original analog tapes and pressed on 180-gram vinyl by Optimal. Single sleeve with iconic original artwork.
