Grinderman, the side project of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds Warren Ellis, Jim Sclavunos and Martyn Casey, received an enthusiastic reception for its eponymous debut in 2007. The quartet reunited in 2009 to record Grinderman 2, which was released on 13 September 2010. Recorded at London's RAK, State of The Ark and Assault and Battery studios in 2009, the album was co-produced by Grinderman and Nick Launay and mixed by Launay at London's British Grove in August 2009 and Seedy Underbelly in L.A. in April 2010.
Grinderman 2 explores more psychedelic realms than its predecessor and is a looser and more experimental album. With its raw, bluesy, garage rock infused with these diverse influences, this is a hallucinatory and sonically solid album. Grinderman 2 includes the singles ‘Heathen Child’ and ‘Worm Tamer’. With their second and final album, Cave announced the band's dissolution at a music festival in Australia in December 2011. ‘Grinderman 2’ is available on black eco-vinyl and contains the entire album as well as a 16-page booklet with texts and illustrations by Ilinca Hopfner. The CD is available in a digisleeve and contains a 28-page booklet.
