Marking the 30th anniversary of Sergiu Celibidache’s passing, “Sergiu Celibidache at the Berliner Festwochen” presents more than three hours of previously unreleased live recordings across 3 CDs, all commercially available for the first time. Captured at the Berliner Festwochen in the 1980s, these performances document Celibidache with the Munich Philharmonic, his closest musical partner during the final decades of his career. The programme includes Schumann’s Symphony No. 4, Dukas’ “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”, Hindemith’s “Mathis der Maler” Symphony and “Symphonic Metamorphosis”, Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7, and an approximately 42-minute performance of Mussorgsky/Ravel’s “Pictures at an Exhibition”. A major archival release and a compelling document of an extraordinary artistic partnership.
