Best known for his work with Charles Mingus, saxophonist Booker Ervin was a distinctive soloist with an assertive sound. One of his pinnacle statements as a leader was "Structurally Sound," cut for Pacific Jazz in 1966 with a quintet featuring Charles Tolliver, John Hicks, Red Mitchell, and Lenny McBrowne.

 

BLUE NOTE TONE POET EDITION: Stereo, produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analogue master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, and packaged in a gatefold sleeve with deluxe tip-on jacket.
