Release date: 21 August 2026

The SEIJI OZAWA Edition presents an extraordinary 238-CD box set that brings together, for the first time, the complete recorded legacy of this great conductor in one collection. Ozawa was one of the defining figures of international musical life, bridging the musical cultures of Europe, the United States and Japan over several decades.

The edition brings together recordings from Deutsche Grammophon, Decca, Philips, Sony, Warner, Telarc, ECM, Hyperion and JVC, as well as previously unreleased live recordings from TOKYO FM. It documents Ozawa’s artistic partnerships with orchestras including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Berliner Philharmoniker, Wiener Philharmoniker, Orchestre National de France, Saito Kinen Orchestra and Mito Chamber Orchestra.

Highlights include the complete Mahler cycle with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, his recordings with the Wiener Philharmoniker including the 2002 New Year’s Concert, award-winning recordings of Ravel and Bartók, and his final recording from 2019 with Martha Argerich. Many recordings are released internationally on CD for the first time.

The edition presents the recordings on high-quality UHQCDs (playable on any standard CD player), and in original jackets in card sleeves. Four English/Japanese booklets totaling 600 pages include new liner notes, contributions from Haruki Murakami, John Williams, Martha Argerich, Itzhak Perlman and James Taylor, as well as detailed track listings and rare photographs from Ozawa’s estate.
