Jazz legend Thelonious Monk made his earliest recordings as a leader for Blue Note in 1947 and over the next five years Alfred Lion recorded the pianist in a variety of settings documenting his utterly unique music. The 1956 12" compilation "Genius of Modern Music, Vol. 2" featured classic Monk compositions including "Straight No Chaser," "Four In One," and "Monk's Mood."
This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition is mono, all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
