Hank Mobley Curtain Call
It’s a sign of the sheer amount of top-notch hard bop Blue Note was recording in the 1950s–60s that a supremely swinging date like Hank Mobley’s 1957 album Curtain Call would sit in the vaults unreleased until 1984. The 6-song set includes four Mobley originals and two standards performed by a quintet with the tenor saxophonist joined by Kenny Dorham on trumpet, Sonny Clark on piano, Jimmy Rowser on bass, and Art Taylor on drums.
This stereo Tone Poet Audiophile Vinyl Edition was produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at Record Technology Incorporated (RTI), and packaged in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket.
